Charles Michael Smith Sr –
I initially found the Wana-Ryd website and started putting my custom wheels package together on June 5th 2021. Kayla immediately reached out to me via email and began asking questions, giving advice and helping me finalize my order. I ordered my custom wheels on June 11th 2021. I read multiple reviews that stated there was a lot of initial contact prior to making the order and then the customer did not hear anything for several weeks. This was my experience as well, but it was expected. I was told upfront that it would take approximately 9 to 11 weeks for my wheels to be manufactured and then they would have to be sent to Wana-Ryd for assembly and quality control. I didn’t look to hear from anyone until at least the aforementioned time had elapsed. Prior to that time, what would there be to say? On July 19th Ryan reached out via email and informed me that my wheels were “ready for polish and should be sent to that process soon then the chroming process will be next so it looks like we are on track with the estimated lead time.” On August 10th Ryan left me a voicemail telling me that were 2 to 3 weeks out from shipping from the manufacturer to them. On September 16th my wheels arrived at Wana-Ryd for assembly and quality control. On September 24th I received the tracking email from Wana-Ryd (UPS) stating that my order was complete and on the way to my home. On September 25th at 2:02 PM, my wheels were delivered. The total time involved from the day I made my order to the day my wheels arrived was 15 weeks. Of course each person will have their own opinion, but I think that considering we were in the midst of a global pandemic, being that close to the estimated time is not too bad. I understood going into this that getting anything custom-made would take time. While I did not get a call or email every day, I believe the communication I received was sufficient. When there was information to give me, it was given and when there was nothing to say, I didn’t hear anything. I think some peoples expectations are just unrealistic. I took my bike to Low Country Harley Davidson, where I have all of my service and preventive maintenance performed, to have my wheels installed. On the day of the installation, the service manager from Low Country Harley Davidson called me to inform me that a spacer for the rear wheel that was necessary due to the fact my bike has ABS was not included with my wheels and that they have contacted Wana-Ryd about the issue. He informed me further that a representative from Wana-Ryd told him that the spacer should have been in the package and they would get it right over to him that day. He made the comment to me that he told his master technician that it would be a neat trick if they could get the spacer to them that day because he did not realize the company was local. The part was provided to Low Country Harley Davidson quickly enough that they were able to complete my install the same day. Unfortunately, that evening when I went to pick up my bike there was another problem. The test ride of my motorcycle had revealed a pulsation in my rear brake. There was an issue with the rear brake rotor. The service manager contacted Wana-Ryd about this situation and they sent over a very specific set of instructions requesting pictures and video of the installation. Of course I was disappointed that there was a problem, but I realize that despite our best efforts sometimes things happen. Additionally, I was not dismayed that the pictures and video were requested, after all Wana-Ryd is a business and at the end of the day any company has to look out for not only its customers but also its own interests. I am pleased to report that after Low Country Harley Davidson met the warranty requirements, Danny sent over all the necessary components for Low Country Harley Davidson to build a new rear rotor. After the new rotor was installed, everything worked perfectly. I could not be more pleased with the look and quality of my wheels. My order included custom front and rear wheels, two custom brake rotors for the front and a custom brake rotor for the rear and a chrome belt pulley. Some people reading this review may not think that it should be a five star review because everything did not go perfectly. I gave 20 years of honorable and faithful service in the United States Marine Corps (served in two wars) and after retirement went to college to study Radiation Oncology; now I treat cancer patients. One thing my experiences have taught me is that life seldom goes perfectly. I gave Wana-Ryd five stars because despite the adversity they came through, providing great customer service and a quality product.
