Harley Street Glide Wheels: The Complete Upgrade Guide 1

The Harley-Davidson Street Glide is one of the most popular touring bikes on the road — and the fastest way to make yours stand apart is with a set of custom wheels. Whether you want a direct stock-size replacement in a head-turning design or a full big-wheel conversion that transforms the entire stance of the bike, WanaRyd carries every option for every generation of Street Glide.

Below you will find everything you need to know: stock wheel sizes by year, direct-fit replacement options, big wheel conversions from 21 to 30 inches, fat front tire setups, and the parts required for each upgrade path.

Stock Wheel Sizes by Year

Before choosing an upgrade, it helps to know what your bike came with from the factory. Harley has changed the Street Glide’s wheel specs several times, and each generation has different fitment requirements.

2024 and Newer Street Glides

The 2024 redesign brought significant changes to the Street Glide platform. These bikes roll on a 19 x 3.0-inch front wheel and an 18 x 5.0-inch rear wheel. Every custom wheel style WanaRyd carries is available in the stock 19 x 3.0 front size — swap to a completely new look without changing tires, fender, or any other components. For the rear, we offer the direct replacement 18 x 5.5-inch wheel with a 180/55-18 tire.

2014–2022 Street Glides

This generation uses a 17 x 3.0-inch front wheel and a 16 x 5.0-inch rear wheel. These are the most common Street Glides on the road, and we carry the largest selection of direct-fit replacements for this platform. A stock-size wheel swap is the easiest upgrade you can do — bolt on, ride out.

2009–2013 Street Glides

These bikes came equipped with an 18 x 3.5-inch front wheel and a 16 x 3.0-inch rear wheel. Direct-fit replacement wheels are available in every finish and style we offer.

2006–2008 Street Glides

The first-generation Street Glide runs a 17 x 3.0-inch front and 16 x 3.0-inch rear. Even though these bikes are older, we still stock direct replacements in the most popular styles.

Big Wheel Conversions for the Street Glide

A big front wheel is the single most dramatic visual change you can make to a Street Glide. It lengthens the front end, lowers the visual center of gravity, and turns heads at every stoplight.

21-Inch Front Wheel

The easiest big wheel upgrade. A 21-inch front wheel requires only a new front fender — no changes to the frame, neck, or triple trees. This is the sweet spot for riders who want a noticeably bigger wheel without a complex build. Handling stays close to stock, and tire options are widely available.

23-Inch Front Wheel

Stepping up to 23 inches requires bolt-on triple trees and a matching fender. The triple trees adjust the steering geometry to compensate for the larger wheel diameter, keeping the bike rideable and stable. No frame modifications are necessary — still a bolt-on conversion.

26-Inch Front Wheel

A 26-inch conversion transforms the entire look of the bike. This requires raked triple trees or a raked neck, a 26-inch front fender, and possibly extended fork legs depending on the desired stance. The result is a show-stopping presence that dominates any bike night.

30-Inch Front Wheel

The ultimate statement. A 30-inch wheel conversion requires a raked neck, custom triple trees, extended fork legs, a custom fender, and recalibrated brakes. This is a full custom build, and it turns a Street Glide into something that stops traffic. WanaRyd offers complete 30-inch conversion kits with everything you need.

Fat Front Tire Conversions

If big diameter is not your thing, going wide is another way to completely change the character of a Street Glide. A fat front tire fills out the front end, gives the bike a more planted feel, and delivers an aggressive muscle-bike stance that stands apart from every other bagger on the road.

18 x 5.5-Inch Fat Front

The most conservative fat front option. Requires new fork legs and a wider front fender, but no triple tree or neck modifications. The 18 x 5.5 gives a thick, planted look without raising the front end.

21 x 5.5-Inch Fat Front

The most popular fat front setup. Combines the height of a 21-inch wheel with the width of a 5.5-inch tire for maximum visual impact. Requires triple trees and a wide front fender. This is the build you see winning shows and filling Instagram feeds.

23 x 5.5-Inch Fat Front

For riders who want both height and width. A 23 x 5.5 fat front requires raked triple trees, a custom wide fender, and wider fork legs. The end result is a Street Glide that looks like nothing else on the road.

Choosing the Right Finish

The finish you choose has just as much impact as the wheel design itself. Here is a quick breakdown of the most popular options.

Gloss Black — The most requested finish for Street Glides. Clean, aggressive, and easy to maintain. Pairs perfectly with the blacked-out aesthetic that dominates modern bagger culture.

Chrome — The classic choice. Chrome catches light and draws the eye, and it is still the go-to for riders building traditional custom touring bikes.

Contrast Cut — Machine-cut faces with a black background create depth and dimension. This is the finish that photographs best and shows off the intricate spoke and rotor patterns of modern wheel designs.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the stock wheel size on a Harley Street Glide?

It depends on the year. 2024 and newer models run a 19 x 3.0-inch front and 18 x 5.0-inch rear. The 2014–2022 generation uses 17 x 3.0 front and 16 x 5.0 rear. Earlier models (2009–2013) came with 18 x 3.5 front and 16 x 3.0 rear, while the 2006–2008 bikes had 17 x 3.0 front and 16 x 3.0 rear.

Can I put a 21-inch wheel on my Street Glide?

Yes, and it is one of the easiest upgrades you can do. A 21-inch front wheel only requires a new front fender. No triple tree, neck, or frame modifications are needed. The bike handles almost identically to stock, and you get a significantly more aggressive look.

What parts do I need for a 26-inch wheel on a Street Glide?

A 26-inch conversion requires raked triple trees (or a raked neck), a 26-inch front fender, and potentially extended fork legs. WanaRyd offers complete kits with everything you need for the conversion. See our complete 26-inch conversion guide for full details.

What is a fat front tire conversion?

A fat front tire conversion replaces the stock narrow front wheel with a wider setup — typically 5.5 inches wide instead of the stock 3.0 to 3.5 inches. The wider tire gives the front end a muscular, planted look and slightly different handling characteristics. The most popular fat front sizes are 18 x 5.5, 21 x 5.5, and 23 x 5.5.

Do I need to change my rear wheel when upgrading the front?

No. You can upgrade just the front wheel without touching the rear. That said, most riders eventually upgrade both ends to get a matching set — same style, same finish, complete cohesion. WanaRyd offers front and rear packages in every wheel style we carry.
